2020 Parent and Grandparent Program invitations have officially come to an end

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has concluded sending invitations for the 2020 Parents and Grandparents Program candidates.

Congratulations to all those who received an invite to sponsor their parents and grandparents. You must complete and submit your applications within sixty days. The IRCC has indicated the submission deadline on your invitation letters. All selections were conducted randomly and those who were not able to receive an invitation can apply in the 2021 PGP program. The details of the 2021 PGP program have not yet been publicized.

Receiving an invitation for the PGP Program does not guarantee Permanent Residency for any parent or grandparent. The invitation is simply an indication of your right to submit an application for PR for your family members. The successful completion of your application depends on many factors such as but not limited to:

  • Eligibility of sponsors

  • Eligibility of applicants

  • Financial eligibility

  • Security checks

  • Criminality checks

  • Medical checks

  • Forms and letters

  • Overall completeness of the application

The IRCC is planning on inviting 30,000 applicants for the Parents and Grandparents Program in 2021.
